What happens at a Heifetz concert? At any given moment, it could be a profound chamber-music masterpiece, a sublime sonata, or a breathtaking showpiece. And on Saturday nights, during one of our multi-genre Heifetz Hootenannies, some things that can only be described as just plain fun.
Such as this snapshot from the 2018 Heifetz Institute, which features the sensational then-12 year-old-violinist SoHyun Ko (who had dazzled us all just days earlier with her stunning rendition of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen), joining with Heifetz mentor and teacher Bela Horvath (who knows a thing or two about being a gifted young prodigy) to explore the lighter side of yes, the oh-so-serious Dmitri Shostakovich.
