Why indeed? Heifetz institute faculty cellist Colin Carr has an answer that is both surprising and completely in keeping with the spirit of the Heifetz Institute – as true today as it was ten summers ago, when the British-born cellist dared to ascend the “Stairway to Heaven” that the transcendent Chaconne – the fifth and final movement of Bach’s solo Violin Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004 – represents to so many. As we celebrate our Heifetz quarter-century, prepare yourself for a quarter-hour of love, loss, rage, serenity….and pure artistry, in the hands of one of the world’s great cellists!
