Heifetz Hear & Now 2023-24: Zlatomir Fung

The Heifetz Institute presents Hear & Now – a chamber music concert series at Mary Baldwin University’s Francis Auditorium in Staunton, Virginia. This concert, titled A Night At the Opera features award winning cellist and Heifetz Institute alum Zlatomir Fung with pianist Jessica X. Osborne.

Zlatomir Fung

The first American in four decades and youngest musician ever to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition Cello Division, Zlatomir Fung is poised to become one of the preeminent cellists of our time. Astounding audiences with his boundless virtuosity and exquisite sensitivity, the 23-year-old has already proven himself to be a star among the next generation of world-class musicians. A recipient of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship 2022 and a 2020 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Fung’s impeccable technique demonstrates mastery of the canon and exceptional insight into the depths of contemporary repertoire. Jessica X. Osborne

Jessica Xylina Osborne, a native of San Antonio, Texas, has been playing the piano since she was four years old. She has enjoyed an illustrious and diverse career in music. She pursues ambitious projects that reflect creativity in programming with the goal of bringing awareness to social justice issues. She enjoys presenting programs that pair well- known audience favorites with music being written today, in addition to performing works written by composers who have historically been underrepresented or marginalized within the classical music canon. LEARN MORE
