Love, Jokes, and Humor

Welcome to Heifetz 2026!  This summer, as we celebrate three decades of transformative education, extraordinary artistry, and the community that has made Heifetz possible, each day we’ll be sharing audio, video, images, and programs from across the decades of the Institute. Check back each day throughout our 30th Anniversary Season as we share some memorable moments from each golden year of the Institute!

July 6, 2016: Staunton, VA

For our 20th Anniversary Season in 2016 we welcomed back violinist Chad Hoopes. As an alumnus of the 2011 and 2012 summer programs, Chad would soon go on to make his debut recording with the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2014 on the French label Naïve. In 2017 he was a recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant – a career-altering award that’s also been bestowed on such Heifetz alums as Alexi Kenney, Rachell Ellen Wong, Zlatomir Fung, and Geneva Lewis..

Here Chad, joined by longtime Heifetz pianist Dina Vainshtein, performs two of the most well known works by Fritz Kreisler, and shares his thoughts on the character of the music by the master violinist and composer.
