The Heifetz2022 Week Six Challenge

Don’t Hesitate
by Mary Oliver

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes
something happens better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the
case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.

As we prepare for the action-packed final week of our summer program featuring no fewer than ten concerts in six days, we hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the joy that the Heifetz Institute has brought you over these past five weeks. If you have been inspired by our Stars of Tomorrow, awestruck at a Celebrity Series concert, or swept away by a Sunday Matinee, then you have seen firsthand the transformative potential of a summer at Heifetz for our students, as well as the enormous value our concerts provide to our home region and the concert music world at large.

This summer, we committed an unprecedented $300,000 in scholarship and tuition assistance to bring our extraordinary students to Staunton. But we still have $20,000 to raise and time is growing short, so help us finish out our season on a high note!

Our Week Six Challenge is on: $20,000 to go, and ten concerts in which to raise it. Can you help?

Whether it’s a $10 bill dropped in the tip jar at the end of a concert, a virtual tip during a live stream, or a recurring contribution, these gifts enable us to train the world’s most extraordinary young musicians while presenting an incredible 50+ concerts during our summer season.

So if you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy during this final week of the Heifetz 2022 season, don’t hesitate—please make your contribution to our Week Six Challenge!
