He has extensively performed and worked on projects with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, the Library of Congress\, and Performance Today\, and has initiated many innovative collaborations\, combining multiple forms of artistic expression with performance. The BSQ has performed his acclaimed transcriptions of Bach’s Goldberg Variations and the Well-Tempered Clavier Book I internationally\, the latter of which the Quartet released on an acclaimed premiere recording which hit the billboard charts. A passionate educator\, he often leads discussions enhanced by projections of handwritten manuscripts\, investigating with the audience the creative process of the composer\, and has lectured and given master classes across the globe\, and has encourage audiences and students of all ages to explore and listen to both traditional and contemporary repertoire in new ways. Teaching at the New England Conservatory of Music\, Nicholas has pioneered the use of computers and page-turning pedals to make it possible for the Borromeo and students to always work from the complete score\, which has allowed him to become involved in the serious study of composer’s manuscripts. In the case of Beethoven\, this manuscript study has led him to exciting discoveries of a new dynamic and articulation system within the manuscripts\, praised and supported by scholars and institutions and performed world-wide. He is Artistic Director of the Heifetz International Music Institute.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Clark Snavely\n					Violin \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Violinist Clark Snavely (Heifetz 2024\, 2025) has appeared as soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra\, Madison Symphony Orchestra\, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra\, Wisconsin Philharmonia\, Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago\, SEEN Worldwide Orchestra\, and Festival City Symphony. His solo performances have taken him to prestigious venues including the Royal Concertgebouw\, Queen Elizabeth Hall\, and Parkzaal Musis Sacrum. In 2024\, he performed for an estimated audience of 20\,000 at the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s 40th anniversary Concerts on the Square celebration. Snavely is a recent award recipient from the American Opera Society of Chicago and has earned numerous distinctions\, including Second Prize at the International Young Artist Competition and Third Prize at the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition. As a chamber musician\, he has been recognized with Second Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition\, the Gold Medal and Haydn Prize at the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition\, and both First and Grand Prizes at the A.N. and Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition. A former Merit Scholar Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy—an elite training program for advanced pre-college musicians—he studied with Almita Vamos and Davis King. He has also been featured on Introductions (WFMT Chicago) as a chamber musician\, performing with the Pelios String Quartet in August 2023 and with the Seraphim Quartet at a “Bach to School” community outreach event in November 2023. He currently studies at the New England Conservatory of Music.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Jiwon Kim\n					Viola \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Born in Seoul\, South Korea\, violist Jiwon Kim (Heifetz 2019\, 2023) has been a winner of the Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition\, as well as a prizewinner at the Richmond Symphony Orchestra League’s competition. Jiwon also performed with A Far Cry in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory as the winner of A Far Cry/New England Conservatory Prep Collaborative Competition. In addition\, Jiwon has performed in solo masterclasses given by Roberto Diaz\, Kim Kashkashian\, Carol Rodland\, Richard O’Neill\, Karen Dreyfus\, and Cynthia Phelps. In 2018\, Jiwon graduated from Walnut Hill School for the Arts\, where she studied with Mai Motobuchi\, violist of the Borromeo String Quartet.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Hun Choi\n					Cello \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Praised for his “playing with finesse and precision” (Concert Review\, NYC)\, cellist Hun Choi (Heifetz 2023) made his United States debut in 2022 as a soloist with the Penn Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Thomas Hong\, performing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations. In the 2023–2024 season\, he toured across North America as a Curtis on Tour artist\, performing with Maestro Osmo Vänskä and violinist Erin Keefe. He has appeared in solo and chamber performances at leading venues including New York’s 92nd Street Y\, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center\, New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston\, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Florida\, and South Korea’s Kumho Art Hall and Daejeon Arts Center. He was also invited to perform at the 9th Korean American Day celebration at Philadelphia City Hall. As a soloist\, he has appeared with the PyeongChang Festival Orchestra\, Namyangju Symphony Orchestra\, and Yewon Orchestra. A recipient of numerous awards\, Choi won First Prize at the Seoul Youth Chamber Music Competition (2015)\, the PyeongChang Music Festival Concerto Competition (2018)\, and was a prizewinner at the Morningside Music Bridge Concerto Competition (2019). He has also participated in the Prague Spring International Music Competition (2018) and the ISANGYUN Competition (2022)\, and was a semifinalist in the 2023 YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions. He has been featured at renowned festivals including the PyeongChang Music Festival & School\, Morningside Music Bridge\, Seoul Arts Center Music Academy\, and the Heifetz International Music Institute\, where he was a String Scholar Fellow. Born in Seoul\, South Korea\, Mr. Choi earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music\, where he continues his studies toward a master’s degree under the guidance of Peter Wiley and Gary Hoffman. His previous teachers include Carter Brey and Myung-Wha Chung.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Yandi Chen\n					Piano \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				A native of Shanghai\, China\, pianist Yandi Chen has performed extensively as a soloist\, collaborator\, and chamber musician\, across the United States\, Italy\, France\, and China. He is a recipient of numerous prizes and awards\, including the Second Prize of Le Prix de la Fondation Maurice Ravel\, the Borromeo String Quartet Guest Artist Award\, and the NEC Honor Ensemble\, and has appeared as soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra\, New England Conservatory Philharmonia and Fort Worth Symphony. As a passionate chamber musician\, Yandi has been an active participant of the inspirational Perlman Chamber Music Workshop. He has also been heard at music festivals such as Piano Texas International Academy and Festival\, Aspen Music Festival\, Virtuoso & Belcanto Music Festival\, Fontainbleau Summer Music Program. He has collaborated with such renowned artists including Itzhak Perlman\, Donald Weilerstein\, Donald Palma\, Molly Carr\, Patrick Romano\, and the members of the Borromeo String Quartet. He has also performed in Music for Food Concert\, Core Memory Music Series and Wellesley Chamber Players concert in Boston area. Yandi has been the staff pianist at Perlman Music Program Israel Residency (2024)\, Heiftz International Music Institute (2023)\, and Chamber Music Northwest Young Artist Institute (2022\, 2024). He is currently serving as the staff pianist at New England Conservatory. He coaches chamber music ensembles and CHIPS program at NEC’s Preparatory School. He has performed for community engagement events for communities in Boston\, New Hampshire\, and Shelter Island. Yandi holds a Bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School and a Master’s from Yale University where he studied with Prof. Hung-Kuan Chen. He is currently studying with Prof. Vivian Weilerstein as a candidate of the Doctoral of Musical Arts in Chamber Music at the New England Conservatory.

Hallelujah! \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				MEET THE ARTISTS\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Angela Chan\n					Violin \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Praised for her sensitivity and incredible tone\, Hong Kong-born violinist Angela Sin Ying Chan is a two-time Heifetz Institute alum\, and a frequent Heifetz On Tour performing artist. Angela is the winner of 2024 Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover\, Germany\, and recipient of the prize for the best interpretation of commissioned work\, First Prize and winner of the best interpretation of concerto prize in the 2017 Louis Spohr Violin Competition\, and laureate of the Singapore International Violin Competition and Shanghai Issac Stern International Competition. Angela is also the founder and violinist of the AYA piano trio\, First Prize winners of the WDAV Chamber Music Competition and Yellow Spring Chamber Competition.  Ms. Chan is fast emerging as one of the most unique and polished violinists of her generation. As a soloist\, Angela has appeared with numerous orchestras. As an active chamber musician\, Ms. Chan has collaborated with world famous artists such as Nobuko Imai\, Phillip Setzer\, Hsinyun Huang\, Peter Wiley\, Gary Hoffman\, Shmuel Ashkenasi\, and Marcy Rosen. \nBorn in Hong Kong\, Angela started playing the violin at the age of 3 under her mother. She continued her violin studies with Michael James Ma\, Vera WeiLing Tsu in Beijing\, China\, and Heifetz faculty member Shmuel Ashkenasi\, Pamela Frank\, and Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music. With full scholarship granted\, she received her master’s degree with Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory of Music. She is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. Ms. Chan is the first awardee of the Music and Dance Distinguished Performance Commendation Scheme of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council\, and the scholarship recipient of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance fund and the Lin Yao Ji Foundation. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Marina Alba Lopez\n					Violin \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Violinist Marina Alba López attended the Heifetz Institute in 2023 and joined the Heifetz on Tour roster in the spring of 2024.  Marina graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Minor in Jazz Studies focused on Voice (and Violin) at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music\, last May\, and is now enrolled in graduate studies with Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music. Marina was born in Madrid to a family of musicians and started to play the violin at the age of 7. Her musical training began with singing\, when she joined the Madrid Community Choir at the age of 5. She sang in several operas at the Royal Theater of Madrid\, including Tosca\, Boris Godunov and Der Rosenkavalier. At IU she holds the Young Premier Artist Scholarship and the E H Claus Scholarship. She is also the recipient of Madrid’s Community Overseas studies Grant. As a Jazz vocalist\, singing a wide range of styles\, including Bossa Nova and salsa\, as the lead singer of Wayne Wallace’s Latin Jazz Ensemble. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Joseph Skerik\n					Viola \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				2022 Heifetz alumnus and Heifetz on Tour artist Joseph Skerik is a member of the Vega String Quartet\, which holds an endowed residency at Emory University in Atlanta\, GA. His 2024-25 quartet season includes performances with Amy Schwartz-Moretti\, David Coucheron\, Ettore Causa\, Aloysia Friedmann and Jon Kimura Parker in the US and Mexico\, a commission project for the PBS program ‘Songs About Buildings in Moods\,’ featuring works by David Gardner and Emily Koh\, the premiere of a new viola quintet by Paul Coletti\, and concerts in Atlanta and Carnegie’s Zankel Hall with Mark and Maggie O’Connor\, presenting their program “Beethoven and Bluegrass” in April 2025. In 2024\, the Vega Quartet was featured in concerts at the National Gallery in Washington\, DC in conjunction with a rare exhibition of Mark Rothko works\, and collaborated with Zuill Bailey\, Ransom Wilson and the Juilliard Quartet. Joseph has recently been a guest artist at the Heifetz Institute’s Hear and Now concert series and the festivals of Methow Valley\, Highlands-Cashiers\, Lake George\, Vivace and Kneisel Hall. He has performed chamber music with Ani Kavafian\, Edward Arron\, Ilya Kaler\, Erin Keefe\, Colin Carr\, Andrew Shulman\, Brook Speltz and Zuill Bailey. Joseph is a prize-winner at the AVS Competition and the 2022 Oskar Nedbal Viola Competition in Prague. He is the co-founder of Viridian Strings\, an ongoing summer chamber music festival in the Grand Traverse region of Michigan. Joseph studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy with Renee Skerik\, Cleveland Institute of Music with Jeffrey Irvine\, and at the Yale School of Music with Ettore Causa. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Andres Sanchez-Linares\n					Cello \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Cellist Andres Sanchez-Linares attended the Heifetz Institute in 2019 and has subsequently performed as a Heifetz on Tour artist on many occasions. Andres was born in Allentown PA\, and began his cello studies at the age of eight years old under the wing of former Puerto Rico symphony cello principal Miguel Rojas. After two years he continued his studies with cellist Jesus Morales\, member of the Dali Quartet and former principal of the Puerto Rico Symphony. At 10 years of age\, Andres made his first solo debuts in the Midwest Clinic of Chicago and the Ocean City Pops orchestra. Three years later\, he made his Carnegie hall debut as soloist with the ArCoNet chamber orchestra. At age 16\, Andres was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music in 2013 where he studied with cellists Peter Wiley and Carter Brey. Andres graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in 2020 and is continuing his studies at the New England Conservatory under the guidance of Paul Katz. Andres has made solo appearances with the Kennet Square Symphony\, the Central Jersey Symphony\, the Summit Symphony\, Pennsylvania Sinfonia\, and the Gabrieli Ensemble. As a member of the AYA Trio\, he made his Beethoven triple concerto debut with the Waterbury Symphony. As cellist of the AYA trio\, he has performed across the country in esteemed series including Concerts International in Memphis TN\, the Schneider Concert series at the Mannes School of Music. The trio recently made its debut in the Brevard Music Center and New York City’s Merkin Concert Hall. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Ying Li\n					Piano \n					\n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Chinese pianist Ying Li is the pianist in the AYA trio First Prize Winner of the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions\, as well as recipient of The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Prize and the Tri-I Noon Recitals Prize. She has received top awards in numerous national and international competitions including the inaugural Antonio Mormone International Prize\, Sarasota Artist Series Piano Competition\, Brevard Music Festival\, International Liszt Piano Competition for Young Pianists\, and was a finalist at Concours musical international de Montréal. Ying has performed with many leading orchestras such as The Philadelphia Orchestra\, New Jersey Symphony\, Buffalo Philharmonic\, Brevard Music Festival Orchestra\, L’Accademia Orchestra del La Scala\, NWD-Philharmoniker\, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic with conductors such as Lina Gonzalez-Granados\, Xian Zhang\, Dan Ettinger\, Eric Jacobsen\, and Jonathon Heyward. During the 24-25 season\, Ying will make appearances with the Minnesota Orchestra\, Kansas City Symphony\, Orlando Philharmonic\, Eugene Symphony\, Aiken Symphony\, and the Salisbury Symphony\, among others. As an avid chamber musician\, Ying has appeared at prestigious festivals around the world including the Verbier Festival Academy\, ClassicheFORME International Chamber Music festival in Lecce\, Ravinia’s Steans Institute\, La Jolla Music Society\, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival\, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival\, the Artists Series Concerts in Sarasota\, and the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival.
