Heifetz International Music Institute General Manager Jennifer Bangley Roe had a varied career as an art administrator, writer, speaker, and multimedia producer. Before coming to the Heifetz Institute in August of 2014, she was the Manager of Planning and Communications for The Office of the President at Berklee College of Music, the acclaimed multi-genre music school with more than 5000 students enrolled on campuses in Boston and Valencia, Spain. Previously she worked as the Associate Director for Special Projects at Boston public-media powerhouse WGBH, and before that as the longtime midday host for WDAV Classical Public Radio, in Davidson, NC. There she was the creative force behind such national productions as Spoleto Today, broadcast on location from the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, SC, and Radio Chopin, a 200-episode investigation into the life and times of Fryderyk Chopin produced during the composer’s bicentennial in 2010.
Jennifer is a Staunton-born native of Virginia, and her parents, the Rev. Bernard and Mrs. Anna Bangley, are residents of Rockbridge Baths, VA. As the General Manager, Jennifer oversees the day-to-day operations of the Heifetz Institute, including its Gift Shop and Headquarters in historic downtown Staunton, as well as the administration and direction of the Institute’s six-week summer session on the Mary Baldwin University campus. An accomplished soprano, Jennifer is a member of the Choir of Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, which in August of 2017 performed in residence for a week at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, with an additional performance in Gloucester Cathedral in the U.K. She also made her Heifetz Institute stage debut in 2017, performing a selection from Elijah in an all-Mendelssohn program in Francis Auditorium.
