2021 Festival of Concerts

We are delighted to announce that our Heifetz Festival of Concerts is coming back for our 25th Anniversary Season in summer of 2021.  While there will be some changes to ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty, and audiences, you can still expect a robust schedule of 50+ concerts of vital, compelling music-making in the unique Heifetz style, presented in venues across Staunton and throughout the Shenandoah Valley.

Please note the following changes to ensure a safe and enjoyable Heifetz concert season:

⋅ To allow maximum flexibility for proper social distancing and maintaining strict venue capacity limits, there will be no assigned seating for Season Pass Holders. There will, however, be sections in all venues which will be available exclusively for Season Pass Holders.

⋅ Season Passes will include admission to all Stars of Tomorrow, Celebrity Series, Sunday Matinees, Heifetz Hootenannies, and other Special Events including the Grand Finale and PianoPalooza.

Fridays in the Gallery at the Staunton-Augusta Arts Center will be free events, but due to the limited capacity, advance online registrations must be made for all concerts in this series. Registration will open seven days prior to each event.

Sundays in the Vineyard are not included in the Season Pass package, but all Season Pass holders will receive a discount code for reduced pricing when tickets go on sale.

2021 Season Passes: $300 ($650+ overall value)

2021 Festival of Concerts Overview

The Institute’s signature series showcases breathtaking performances by extraordinary Heifetz students, visiting alumni artists,  and our outstanding Heifetz piano faculty.

Continuing the Heifetz tradition of weekday free concerts, our brilliant young musicians will present intimate concerts in the gallery among  exhibitions from artists throughout the Shenandoah Valley.

Experience the world-renowned artistry of our virtuosic Heifetz Institute faculty members in these carefully conceived programs showcasing top performers in the concert music world.

It’s not a summer in Staunton without a Heifetz Hoot! Our Saturday series that features students, staff, and special guests in one-of-a-kind, multi-genre mash-ups moves to the Blackburn Inn’s expansive new Great Hall, where you might hear bluegrass picking, Broadway belting, folk fiddling, or rollicking rhythm and blues!

Our Sunday series returns to the spacious and newly refurbished First Presbyterian Church, featuring Heifetz students, faculty, alumni, and special guests in invariably memorable performances tailored for summer Sunday afternoons.

From our yearly Independence Day Celebration Concert at Monroe’s Highland in Charlottesville to the keyboard wizardry of PianoPalooza to the excitement of our Grand Finale, these special events throughout the region will feature the artistry of our summer students and special guests.

Following the success of our Rubato Virtual Concert Hall in 2020,  students who will be attending virtually from across the globe will have the opportunity to perform in our signature series in these engaging live streams.

Our program for outstanding young string players aged 9–14 will be conducted online, but you can still be dazzled by the talent of the Institute’s youngest performers at these virtual “graduation recitals.”

The beautiful setting of Barren Ridge presents an ideal backdrop for an exploration of the string sound, with presentations both in the ballroom and en plein air, perfectly paired with their award winning wines and unrivaled scenery.
